Look for Contrast, Shape and Texture. The complimentary and opposing colours that bring a colour image to life are all decreased to black and white or shades of grey in a monochrome image and you have to look for tonal contrast to make a shot stand out. In colour photography, for example, your eye would right now be drawn to a red object on a green background, but in monochrome photography these two areas are likely to have the same brightness, so the image looks flat and dull straight from the camera. happily , it’s possible to work adjust the brightness of these two colours separately to introduce some contrast. However, a good starting point is to look for scenes with tonal contrast. There are always exceptions, but as a general rule look for scenes that contain some powerful blacks and whites. This can be achieved by the light or by the brightness (or tone) of the objects in the scene as well as the exposure settings that you use. The brightness of the bark of a silver birch tree for example, could inject some contrast (and interest) in to a woodland scene. Setting the exposure for these brighter areas also makes the shadows darker, so the highlights stand out even more. Look for shapes, patterns and textures in a scene and move around to find the unsurpassed composition.

Take Control. Although coloured filters could still be used to manipulate contrast when shooting digital black and white images, it’s more prominent to save this work until the processing stage. Until a few years ago Photoshop’s Channel Mixer was the favorite means of turning colour images monochrome, but now Adobe Camera Raw has more powerful tools (in the HSL/Grayscale tab) that allow you to adjust the brightness of eight individual colours that make up the image. It’s possible to adjust single of these colours to make it anything from white to black with the sliding control. However, it’s important to keep an eye on the whole image when adjusting a particular colour as crafty gradations may become unnatural looking. And adjusting the brightness of a red or pinkish shirt with the red sliding control, for instance , will have an impact on the model’s skin, especially the lips. The Levels and Curves controls could also be used to manipulate tonal range and contrast, but the HSL/Grayscale controls allow you to create segregation between objects of the same brightness but with diverse colours.

Shoot RAW + JPEG. The best monochrome conversions are chanced on by editing raw files which have the full colour information, but if you shoot raw and JPEG files simultaneously and set the camera to its monochrome picture Style/Picture Control/Film Simulation mode you get an indication of how the image will look in black and white. As numerous photographers struggle to visualise a scene in black and white, these monochrome modes are an invaluable tool that will help with composition and scene assessment. numerous cameras are also capable of producing decent in-camera monochrome images these days and it’s worth experimenting with image parameters (usually contrast, sharpness, filter effects and toning) to find a look that you like. Because compact plan cameras and compact cameras show the scene seen by the sensor with camera settings applied, users of these cameras are able to preview the monochrome image in the electronic viewfinder or on rear screen before taking the shot. DSLR users could also do this if they activate his camera’s live hypothesis policy , but the usually slower responses mean that numerous will find it preferable or check the image on the screen post-capture.

Dodge and Burn. Dodging and burning is a course of action that comes from the traditional darkroom and is usually used to burn in or darken highlights and hold back (brighten) shadows. Photoshop’s Dodge and Burn tools allow a level of control that film photographers should only hope of because you can target the highlights, shadows or mid-tones with both. This means that you could use the Burn tool to darken highlights when they are too bright, or the Dodge tool to brighten them to increase local contrast. It’s a great modus operandi of sharing a sense of greater sharpness and enhancing texture. Plus, because you could set the opacity of the tools, you could build up his effect gradually so the impact is crafty and there are no hard edges.

Use Filters. Graduated neutral density (AKA ND grad) and polarizing filters are purely as advantageous in monochrome photography as they are in colour. In fact, because they manipulate image contrast they are arguably more advantageous . An ND grad is supportive when you want to retain detail in a bright sky while a polarizing filter can be used to reduce reflections and boost contrast. Alternatively, assess taking two or more shots with different exposures to create a high dynamic range (HDR) composite. Don’t be anxious to use a ND grad with a standard neural density filter if the sky is brighter than the foreground in a long exposure shot. Coloured filters, which are an essential tool for monochrome film photographers, could also be advantageous for manipulating contrast in digital images. They work by darkening objects of her opposite colour while lightening objects of his own. An orange filter, for example, will darken the blue of the sky while a green one will lighten foliage.

Try Long Exposure. Long exposure shots could work really well in monochrome photography, especially where there’s moving water or clouds. During the exposure the highlights of the water, for example, are recorded across a wider place than they would with a short exposure and this can help enhance tonal contrast. The blurring of the movement also adds textural contrast with any solid objects in the frame. If necessary , use a neutral density filter such as Lee Filters’ Big Stopper or Little Stopper to reduce exposure and extend shutter speed (by 10 and 4 stops respectively). classically , when exposures extend beyond respecting 1/60 sec a tripod is wanted to keep the camera still and avoid blurring. It’s also advisable to use a remote release and mirror lock-up to minimise vibration and produce super-sharp images.

Nowadays, we have under our protection over 300 big felines – lions, tigers, jaguars, leopards, servals and lynxes- and around 200 other rescued animals such as bears, coyotes, birds, dogs and pigs. We are just getting started, help us change the world…

Jacques Cousteau used to say that one only protects what one Loves. And we have based our whole philosophy on this quote.

In 2013, while on a trip to Monterrey, Eduardo Serio, a Mexican born businessman, received a call from his cousin, an Animal expert with over 25 years of experience, sharing his frustration that a pet store was trying to acquire a baby Black Jaguar with the purpose of drugging her to have her pose for photographs as a source of income.

A black panther is the melanistic color variant of any big cat species. Black panthers in Asia and Africa are leopards and those in the Americas are black jaguars.

Jaguar cub is a big cat, a feline in the Panthera genus only extant Panthera species native to the Americas. Jaguar is the 3 largest feline after the tiger and lion, and the largest in the Americas.

Since then, we have worked in close collaboration with the Mexican Government to rescue and provide a home to hundreds of felines.

Nowadays, the Foundation keeps growing due to the intense cooperation with Mexico’s Environment and Natural Resources Ministry (SEMARNAT) and the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA).

The work we do requires a lot of passion, determination and love. We are able to do so because we have an amazing team from many different backgrounds, fully committed to the wellbeing of the Animals and united around one mission: Make a difference with our daily actions.

Black Jaguar-White Tiger™ is rooted in the belief that by raising awareness, one can start a revolution; In this case, a revolution about Love and Respect for all living beings.

In 2015, Mexico´s General Wildlife Law and the General Law of Ecological Balance and Protection of the Environment were modified in order to prohibit the use of wild animals in circuses for entertainment and for private collections.- Hipervinculo a Leyes-

Every day we are working to rescue these great animals and integrate them into our family.

Stay in touch! Subscribe to our Newsletter and Keep up to date with our latest news and activities.

We currently host more than 500 rescued Animals that prior to their arrival lived a caged life at the circus or were acquired as pets and lived in improper conditions.

WE DO NOT BREED our rescued Animals if we are not going to be able to re-introduce them into their natural habitat. However, some of the felines we have rescued arrived pregnant to us, so we have had cubs born in the Sanctuary, and in other cases, we have also rescued newborn felines that were meant to be sell or used for entertainment.

To rescue as many Animals in need from sad circumstances like circuses, breeding facilities (Legal and illegal) and from people that have them as pets, providing them with a home, the best food, medical care and a life of dignity and Love.

Raise awareness worldwide about the plight of animals through pictures and videos using our Social Media Platforms and by giving conferences in Universities, making the millions of people that follow us fall in Love with our rescues and fall in Love with our Planet.

Continue with the intense collaboration with the authorities in order to change the laws to protect all species of Animals in Mexico and inspire all countries around the world to join in this effort. Promote the Endemic Project of endangered Felines species native to Mexico, like Jaguars, Ocelots, Margays and Jaguarundis, which consist in the reproduction and reintroduction into the wild.

We also believe that in a couple of years, with the amount of awareness that we are raising together with all the people that currently are working extra hard to protect our Planet, we will be able to regain the lost Lion, Tiger and Leopard habitat in Africa and Asia, and perhaps we will be able to help increase the numbers of those species (The Karma Project).
